McKinsey’s article goes deep in comparing Lean and Six Sigma and explains why specific process improvements are not enough. Improving processes to eliminate waste, variability, and inflexibility (Toyota‘s approach), are not enough. The other real challenge is how to improve people. A cultural shift is needed for peak performance one that crosses boundaries in the Management Infrastructure, the Technical System, and the Mind-sets and Capabilities of the company.
